Celebrating the Asagba of Asaba at 70 Yesterday, after interacting with the Guild of Editors in Abuja, I travelled to Asaba. I joined the good people of Asaba to celebrate the 70th birthday of our revered traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, the Asagba of Asaba. His Majesty has been a beacon of wisdom, peace, and dignity, not only to his people but to the entire nation. His exemplary life reminds us that true leadership is rooted in humility, vision, and a deep sense of service to humanity. I was also privileged to attend his 70th birthday Thanksgiving Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Asaba. It was a moment of profound gratitude to God for the gift of a life so richly lived in service to others. The atmosphere was filled with joy, reverence, and a strong sense of community as friends, family, and well-wishers came together to honour a man whose faith and moral strength have long been pillars of inspiration. Prof. Azinge’s reign as Asagba of Asaba continues to be defined by peace, inclusiveness, and a vision for progress. His life bridges the worlds of academia, tradition, and faith with rare grace. I pray that God grants him continued good health, wisdom, and the grace to lead his people in unity and prosperity. May his years ahead be filled with peace and fulfilment. –PO
